Google Search Console

Connect Google Search Console to include organic search visibility and keyword data in reports.

Google Search Console provides organic search visibility data: clicks, impressions, average position, top queries, top pages, and device breakdown.

Plan required: Professional and above.

Before you connect

  • The Google account you use must have Full or Restricted access on the Search Console property.
  • Search Console properties come in two types:
    • Domain properties (e.g. sc-domain:example.com) — cover the entire domain including all subdomains and protocols. These require DNS verification.
    • URL-prefix properties (e.g. https://www.example.com/) — cover a specific URL prefix only. These are more commonly available without DNS access.

How to connect

  1. Open the client in ReportsMate and go to the Platforms tab.
  2. Click Connect next to Google Search Console.
  3. You will be redirected to Google to sign in and grant ReportsMate read access.
  4. After authorising, you will be returned to ReportsMate.
  5. A list of Search Console properties accessible to the Google account will appear. Select the correct property for this client.
  6. Click Save.

What data is included

MetricDescription
Total clicksClicks from Google Search to the website
Total impressionsTimes the website appeared in Google Search results
Average CTRClicks ÷ impressions as a percentage
Average positionAverage ranking position across all queries
Top queriesTop 10 search queries by click volume
Top pagesTop 10 pages by click volume
Device breakdownClicks split by desktop, mobile, and tablet

All metrics include a percentage change versus the previous equivalent period.

Data processing lag

Google Search Console data has a 2–3 day processing lag. For daily reports, ReportsMate automatically adjusts the query dates back by 3 days to ensure data is available. Weekly and monthly reports are not affected because the periods are old enough that data is fully processed.

Troubleshooting

No properties appear after connecting The Google account does not have access to any Search Console properties. Ensure the account has been granted at least Restricted access in the Google Search Console settings for the correct property.

Data shows zero for a daily report This is expected if the report covers very recent dates. GSC data takes 2–3 days to be processed. ReportsMate shifts daily report dates back automatically, but if the property has very low traffic, there may genuinely be no data.

Domain property vs URL-prefix property showing different numbers A domain property covers all subdomains and protocols (HTTP + HTTPS), while a URL-prefix property covers only that specific prefix. If both exist, prefer the domain property for a complete view.
